Hey everyone!

This past week was a very exciting one as two Americans traveled to Thailand to test their skills in the motherland of Muay Thai.  Of course, the odds were stacked against them as Kru Scott Howard and Coach Carlos Lopez of Disciple MMA Academy took on very experienced opponents (having more than 100+ fights).

Both Howard and Lopez put in several hours per day during training.  Leveraging the experience of coaches and sparring partners from Disciple MMA Academy in Sterling (along with affiliate schools in Stephens City, VA and Martinsburg, WV), Kru Scott and Coach "Los" were undoubtedly prepared for their respective bouts.

With the odds stacked against them, they (like the warriors they are) stepped into the ring to represent not only themselves, but an entire country.  The obvious question of whether or not an American could compete with a Thai native on his own turf was answered as both Kru Howard and Coach "Los" stopped their opponents in convincing fashion.  Carlos Lopez fought for the title and is now the Chaweng Champion, bringing the championship belt back to the United States.

We want to congratulate both of these fighters as they did not only themselves, their school, and their students proud, but exemplified the pride of a nation.

Congrats again to Kru Howard and Coach "Los"
